He started with romantic genre and quite successfully at that. His first two romantic movie were accepted by public quite well, but they were not a very big hits. Then he did his first full fledged action movie, Arjun, which was accepted with open arms by the audience. After that movie, he did a series of action movies and most of them were hits, thereby making Sunny Deol upcoming action superstar of 80s. His brand of action was unique, he added a lot of drama and intensity to his action. Some of the most notable action movies that he did in 80s were Arjun, Zabardast, Inteqaam, Yateem, Nigahen: Nagina Part II, Tridev and Chaalbaaz.
